Artist bio: Fiona, born in Aberdeen is an established visual artist who lives in the Highlands and works from her studio in WASPS Inverness Creative Academy. Her contemporary fresh images reflect the rich culture and heritage of Scotland where her work is widely exhibited. To become a painter was a natural progression for Fiona following a successful career as a knitwear designer. She graduated in textiles from Winchester School of Art and won the Young Designer into Industry Award presented by the Royal Society of Arts before working with Marks and Spencer as well as teaching. As an artist her relationship with the landscape is deep rooted, coming from several generations of Highland crofters. The landscape is a vastness of subject matter which can never be exhausted The unique textural quality and bold colour of her landscapes reflect her early training and background. Both in oil and mixed media the unmistakable wide-format canvases conjure the uncompromising essence of the North.
