I try and relay the sense of atmosephere around me when painting outdoors and hope some sense of this is imparted to those viewing my work. I started painting well into my 30's and have built up a solid discipline of learning by attending teaching\/courses\/workshops with various artists including Jacqui Pestell at Edinburgh Botanics; Jenny Matthews RSW private lessons; Derek Maguire at courses in Edinburgh College of Art; Ann Oram RSW at weekend courses; Jonathan Shearer at courses for the Art Society of Inverness. I am inspired by them all of course but most importantly have grown my own style and expression over time - and am still evolving.
