Artist bio: I can't remember a time when I didn't feel happy making marks in the world. Kicking up leaves, and making footprints in the sand.... making the first footprints in the new snow. My Mum who is 88 reminded me that I had frightened her into a scream, when I was around 3. I had found a pencil, (she still can't remember where) and drawn a very realistic spider on the wall! Something must have registered deep in my psyche that making marks could be very impressive and exciting. I have always loved details of whiskers and twinkles in eyes. Most recent times I have discovered peaceful contentment and a stillness in my busy head when painting En Plein Aire Alla Prima. There is something about having your feet on the ground, wind in your hair, smell of the sea and the sounds of nature that fills up my brushes with excited dabs and strokes. I forget time, and have had water lapping up the Easel legs with the tide catching me out. Making marks makes me happy....I hope you can see that.
