I create layered and organic semi-abstract paintings using mixed media. My work is inspired by the elements of the natural world.  I focus on the textures, colours and feelings that nature evokes within me. The colour blue holds a great fascination for me and in my work is often heavily featured. I paint from a need to connect with nature more deeply and to express that connection into something physical. I believe a connection to a painting is a voice speaking to your soul on a deep level that you cannot ignore and it does not matter if you do not understand it. My love of painting came through being a bookbinder and wanting to create my own artwork for the covers of my hand bound sketchbooks and journals.
